Welcome to Poetry Central!!!Poetry Posting pages POEM IN YOUR POCKET
Poetry is everywhere! Use this link to show two people the poetry you like. Print out a poem or hand them your internet capable cell phone with the site up and running. Then ask them to send you a text message that explains what they like, didn't like, understand, didn't understand about it. ON DUE DATE: Go to Discussion Tab and answer journal prompt, putting the title of your poem in your response. Reply to journal by Thursday, May 6th.
PAGE OVERVIEW... On this page you will find links to all of the Romantic Poetry Unit assignments. See the links below for specific guidelines and postings. For your own original poems, make sure they are posted by their due dates. To post, click on the link below and then post on the discussion tab of that poem's main page.
Once the posting deadline hits, you then have an assigned time in which to respond to the assigned number of your peers' poems. Your responses should be specific in nature and detailed. Consider the following prompts when responding:
1. What you specifically liked about the poem. Don't say "it was good". Tell the author you thought the imagery within the text created an unforgettable picture in your mind. Be detailed in your explanations.
2. What you thought could be improved. Don't be afraid to tell your peer that there was one area where you felt disconnected with the message or the meaning. Be sensitive, and don't make it personal; be honest and tell the writer where the content or format pulled away from its theme or purpose.
analyzed six poems, one from each of our six British poets
written thematic statements for each of the poems
identified biographical information that links each author to a meaning in his poem
identified two characteristics of Romantic writing in each poem
researched current event stories whose themes connect to your selected poems
Today, this is what you need to do:
continue researching current event stories so that you have stories and photos connected to THREE of your Romantic poems.
research Contemporary poetry using the links on the page below. Contemporary is defined as poetry written within the last 20 years. You will need to find three poems that have the same theme as your three Romantic poems.
